When Is The Game Awards?

The Keighleys officially start at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, December 7 and last for about two-and-a-half to three hours, with a 30-minute pre-show beforehand.

How To Watch The Game Awards?

There are a few places where you can stream the broadcast. You’ve got the usual spots, like Twitch and YouTube, as well as outliers such as Facebook, Instagram, Kick, TikTok, and X/Twitter. A handful of video game sites, including IGN and GameSpot, will be co-streaming The Game Awards as well. So, you’ve got options.

What To Expect From The Game Awards?

Now, for the meat and potatoes: the expectations. We know that Larian Studios will finally reveal Baldur’s Gate 3's Xbox release date, while Microsoft may make some “important announcements” during the event. Sega is following suit, teasing a “new era [with] new energy” that should debut during the broadcast. Epic Games will show off a trailer for Rocket Racing, its new racing game within Fortnite, and developer Digital Extremes will provide an extended look at the upcoming Warframe expansion Whispers in the Walls. That’s just what we know so far.

The Game Awards is a pretty massive event, though, so we’ll probably also get new looks at known upcoming games, as well as first looks at games that haven’t yet been announced. This includes possible glimpses of Death Stranding 2, Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, or Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC. Some are also holding out hope that a Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake may be revealed. In any case, hopefully there will be some surprises in store.

We can also expect the awarding of trophies to be tense, as this year’s nominees are stacked with some heavy hitters. Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are all up for several awards, including Game of the Year, so, that’ll be a fun little battle. The Finnish rock band Poets of the Fall will be performing as Old Gods of Asgard from Alan Wake 2, maybe replicating one of the year’s most famous video game scenes live. And Keighley has promised a denser security presence to ensure a smooth ceremony. All in all, this year’s Game Awards should be one for the books.
