The Pokémon Presents livestream will take place on Tuesday, February 27, at 9 a.m. Eastern Time on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. We don’t know what specifically will be shown, but given previous Pokémon Day streams, we’ll likely hear updates on the series’ live-service games like the augmented reality game Pokémon Go, the MOBA Pokémon Unite, and the sleep-tracking app Pokémon Sleep.

All of this will likely culminate in the reveal of whatever the series’ big 2024 RPG will be. Scarlet and Violet just launched in 2022, so it’s unlikely we’ll be getting the Generation X games this year. Given Pokémon’s usual cycles, it’s more probable we get a remake or a spin-off.

Pokémon Black and White are next in line for remakes if the company keeps going in chronological order, given Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl launched in 2021 on Switch and were faithful remakes of the Generation IV games. But there have historically been bigger gaps between remakes, as the past four have all been on different Nintendo hardware. Unless you count the Let’s Go games, generation V updates on Switch would mark the first time two Pokémon remakes have been on the same platform, as it doesn’t sound like we’re getting the rumored Switch 2 this year.

There’s also a chance we get a spin-off to bridge the gap. A Let’s Go game set in Johto would be interesting, but I’d much prefer a new action RPG in the style of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Set it in the historical Kalos region and show us Pokémon doing war crimes.
