The Game Boy Advance – a 32-bit handheld system released in 2001 – managed to get a few 3D-like games running, but we do not think we have ever seen one that looked so amazing in its lifetime.
Presents “OpenLara” – aka the original Grave looters the game runs on Game Boy Advance. It’s currently in alpha, but as you can see, it’s perhaps one of the nicest 3Ds ever shown on the system. The frame rate is also quite impressive.
As noted by a GBA enthusiast, the “fully 3D, articulated character model” makes it seem “light years ahead” of everything else that has been done before. Others noted how it went better than Nokia’s N-Gage version. According to creator Timur ‘XProger’ Gagiev, the plan is to continue optimizing this version more, and maybe even release it on DS in time.
While the first Tomb Raider in its original form is not officially available on Nintendo’s platforms, later this year Square Enix will release one two-in-one package on Switch includes Tomb Raider spin-offs, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and Lara Croft and Osiri’s Temple.
